Join Close Brothers Close Brothers Asset Finance Team where you will support the Finance Manager with monthly financial control and reporting deliverables for the Asset Finance businesses. They will assist with significant accounting areas for this division and will be required to hone processes and controls to drive efficiencies and improvements through automation using Alteryx and Tableau.

In addition, they will work collaboratively with other members of the finance team including FP&A and Operational Finance to gain a breadth of understanding of operational and commercial factors of the businesses.

Close Brothers Asset Finance (CBAF) comprises of eleven different businesses operating in the Industrial Equipment and Transport sectors.

CBAF provides SMEs across the UK and Ireland with financial support from a variety of products enabling businesses to grow. Assets funded range from standard commercial vehicles and yellow metal construction equipment to private aircraft and other specialist lending.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Accounting and reporting
  • Assist and support monthly reporting for Asset Finance and Asset Central to ensure that monthly tasks are prepared accurately and to deadlines:
  • Prepare monthly analysis for overheads and other selected financial lines for branches
  • Prepare Balance Sheet reconciliations and resolution of discrepancies
  • Review invoices and ensure that they are coded correctly
  • Preparation of standard and ad-hoc journals
  • Support the corporation tax and PSA processes to ensure the tax team receive accurate information on a timely basis

Other responsibilities
  • Assist FM on ad-hoc projects and support AF&L central workstreams to identify best practices and ensure that best practices are implemented across the team
  • Challenge existing processes, identify and implement improvements to achieve better quality, efficiency

WE WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU HAVE/ARE:
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrates a proactive approach
  • Understanding of accounting, double entries and basic accounting standards such as Fixed Asset Accounting
  • A high level of IT competency, particularly in Excel skills (xlookup and pivots), including ability to manage large volumes of data. Desire to learn Alteryx.
  • Experienced in investigating differences or performing variance analysis, and strong ability to articulate findings to stakeholders in written and oral forms
  • A good track record of delivering effective reporting under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • A self-starter with strong attention to detail
  • Fluent English required (verbal/ written)

IT IS NOT ESSENTIAL BUT IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU:
  • Previous experience working in financial services. If no previous industry experience, then must demonstrate a strong desire to learn.
  • Worked effectively within a large, multi-site and complex business
  • Experience of Alteryx
  • Experience of SAP (ECC and BI) experience
  • Part qualified ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent
